Day 2

Emilio had a big day today. He visited with relatives, got some sun by the window, and met his big brother, Joaquin. We're looking forward to going home in the morning.

Who's that baby?

Can anyone tell which of these babies is Joaquin and which is Emilio?

Introducing...

Emilio Julian Sanchez, born at 10:07am today. 5 pounds, 6 ounces. 18.5 inches long. He has spent the day in the level 2 NICU, just because that's the standard, since he didn't quite make it to 36 weeks gestation. He's doing great and should be in our room with us in a couple of hours.

Today's Dr.'s Appointment

I saw the OB this am. I told him that I was ready to stop taking the medicines to stop the contractions and he said, "Okay, stop taking them. Don't have the baby tonight. Have him tomorrow because I'm on call tomorrow." I'm only 3cm dilated, but hopefully, I'll progress now that I'm not taking the meds. We'll see!

Visitors from Colombia

Javier's mother and niece, Camila, arrived today from Colombia. I wasn't able to see them, but it looks like they had alot of fun getting to know Joaquin.

Labor and Delivery and back home again

We went into the hospital Labor and Delivery unit again on Thursday night with stronger contractions, 4 minutes apart, with pelvic pressure and pain. Turned out, I was still only 2cm dilated, so I was sent home and told to come back when I felt a "significant change." We have another OB appt. scheduled for Wednesday, so we'll see what happens.

Last Night's Rodeo

By the Way

Mom had to drive me to the OB because I'm not allowed to drive, so she and Joaquin spent the day exploring the hospital, while I was on the monitor. He was such a good boy. Here's a picture of him sleeping (for 2 hours) on the couch in the main lobby of the hospital.

New Baby Update

I went for my regular Dr.'s appt. today and was dilated to 2cm, 50% effaced. The Dr. sent me over to the hospital to have my contractions monitored. I had 2 injections to control contractions and came home this evening on an increased dose of my oral medications. As we know, these babies decide when the time is right and there's no arguing. This baby boy is at 34 weeks gestation and old enough to make his own decisions. My next OB appt. is scheduled for next Wednesday. We'll see!
